My paternal grandmother travelled from Barbados to the UK as part of the Windrush. She was kind and giving, understanding, strong and capable. Creative with needle and thread and had the most amazing singing voice - you could always hear her humming a gospel tune in the other room. A comedian who would often ask me who I was 'twittering' and best of all were visits with my son - he adored Nanny with his whole heart. With us until her 102nd birthday, Ernesta was a treasure.

For my Dad who passed last month, and who was a beloved Grandad and Great-grandad, he was very close to his grandchildren, throughout their lives and will be greatly missed by them. ❤️

Sadly our grandad passed away a few weeks ago but he was the most amazing grandad you could have ever asked to have in our life’s and our nana as been so strong since is passing helping to look after us all we love you both millions and will never forget our grandad

Grannie, I love that we are so similar and that getting to know you as an adult has meant I really appreciate you as a best friend and Grandpa the fact that you are in your 90s and you know more about iPads and computers than anyone else in the whole family is just the best! You are both incredible xx

So many happy memories of the time we spent together. Day trips with our pennies to play the one armed bandits on Southend pier, feeding the pigeons in Trafalgar Square, rowing boats in Regent's Park, shouting in the Whispering Gallery at St Paul's Cathedral, and endless viewings of grandad's video compilations of Tom & Jerry (no on-demand TV in those days!). I wish my children had the chance to meet you, they would've loved you as much as I did.
